Survey Update
Thanks to the many of you who took the time to take my 10 question survey. Based on your responses, I am able to determine the following:
You expect the RIAFP to spend most of its time lobbying for issues pertaining to Family Medicine. You would also like more CME and even more member centered events; the majority of you think we are doing a “good” job advocating for family medicine. Most of you say you are not on a committee because you do not have the time and all of you prefer to be reached via the blast email.
THE BIG QUESTION of raising RIAFP dues to support the cost of hiring a lobbyist is in a dead-heat, with YES up one vote. I would like to ask those of you who have not yet taken the survey to please give me your input on this important issue.
As promised earlier, the survey takes literally 2-3 minutes to complete and can be accessed by following this link:
http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.asp?u=179623918759
I wish I could give credit to the person who left this input but since the survey is anonymous I can not – I thought it was worth remembering.
"If you see patients in the office, you may effect their lives. If you advocate for physician/patient policies, you may effect whole populations. Docs need to be involved at both levels to be truly effective primary care providers."

An Interesting Invitation
I'd like to invite you to participate in a focus group on Tuesday June 12 that I'll be conducting as part of a feasibility study for a possible future Rhode Island BioBank that will enable researchers in coming years to study the connection between genes, lifestyle, and development of disease. I'm doing focus groups around the state with the public to find out what Rhode Islanders think about the idea of a BioBank in our state, and I will also be holding one with primary care physicians.
I hope you'll join me for this focus group - I can assure you we'll have fun and will laugh (people always seem to at my focus groups!), we'll have a great meal at a hot new restaurant, and I will give you a paltry sum of cash.
The group will be held on Tuesday June 12, from 6:30-8:30 at Local 121, a recently opened restaurant in the circa 1890 Dryfus Hotel in downtown Providence - fully architecturally restored to its original "brooding elegance" as a restaurant, gallery and artists' studios. The restaurant specializes in the use of locally produced organic ingredients.
Please let me know if you will be able to attend.
Warm regards,
Roberta
